Steel Fabricating & Welding

We carry out a full range of structural steel fabrication and welding at our Wakefield workshop. This includes cutting steel sections to length, drilling holes to specified centres, welding end plates, cleats, stiffeners and base plates to beams and columns, fabricating steel frames and brackets, and welding bespoke structural components to your engineer's drawings. We work with universal beams, universal columns, parallel flange channels, angles, flat bar, box section and plate steel. All welding is carried out by our skilled in-house team and checked for dimensional accuracy before despatch.

Yes. Welding connection details such as end plates, cleats, stiffeners, base plates and gussets to structural beams and columns is a routine part of our fabrication service. These connection details are specified on the structural engineer's drawings and we fabricate precisely to those specifications. Getting the connection details right in the workshop avoids problems on site and ensures the beam installs cleanly and meets the structural requirements. If your drawings include connection details, include them when you send your order through and we will fabricate accordingly.

Yes, all of our fabrication and welding work is carried out to the structural engineer's approved drawings. We do not produce structural calculations or produce our own designs. The engineer's drawings tell us the section sizes, lengths, hole positions, welded details and any special requirements, and we fabricate precisely to those instructions. If your drawings are not yet finalised and you want a rough quotation, a sketch with key dimensions and the main section sizes is enough to get the process started. Final fabrication always proceeds from the approved drawing.

We fabricate to the tolerances specified on the structural drawings, using precision cutting and drilling equipment. Our team checks dimensions at each stage of the fabrication process and beams are checked and labelled again before despatch. For most domestic and commercial structural steelwork, fabrication to within a few millimetres of the drawing dimensions is standard practice and is what our team consistently achieves. If your project has particularly tight tolerances or critical connection details, flag this when you enquire and we will discuss the appropriate approach.

Yes. As well as standard beam and column fabrication, we produce bespoke steel components for a wide range of applications. This includes structural frames, steel brackets, connection details for timber frame buildings, agricultural steelwork, and custom components that fall outside standard catalogue sections. If you have a drawing or a brief for something bespoke, send it to us and we will advise on feasibility and cost. We are based in Wakefield and regularly supply fabricated and welded steelwork to builders, contractors and developers across Yorkshire and the wider UK.
